Crown Agents celebrates 20 years of success in Russia

03 August 2012

This month marks our 20th year anniversary in Russia. In 1992 Crown Agents set up an office in the heart of Moscow to launch implementation of the First World Bank rehabilitation loan to Russia. Since then our business has grown from one Moscow-based project and now we reach out to the whole of Eurasia.

MoscowOver the past two decades, we have gained an invaluable reputation for being a competent, experienced and reliable partner. We have built a team of in-house local experts able to work under multi-disciplinary assignments.

We are proud of providing 20 years of sustained work in the post-Soviet region with a broad variety of challenges. We have worked across the health, agriculture, public finance, infrastructure, energy and nuclear safety sectors, funded by international donors and the governments of Japan and the United Kingdom.

Some of our highlights in Russia include:

  • Making public procurement more effective, efficient and transparent during a two-year reform project on which we trained Russian procurement officers.
  • Ensuring the safe dismantling of decommissioned nuclear-powered submarines in the Russian Pacific Fleet, under the Japan-Russia "Star of Hope" Nuclear Disarmament Cooperation Program.
  • Partnering on a Customs Development Project to help Russia fulfil an obligation to bring customs laws and procedures in line with recommendations made in the Kyoto convention.
  • Leading the construction of the first in Russia container-type storage facility for spent nuclear fuel in Murmansk, under the UK Government contribution to the Global Partnership Program. The storage, successfully commissioned and equipped with specialized handling devices and storage containers, ensures safety and security of nuclear materials and demonstrates Russia's sustainability in meeting IAEA and international community requirements.

The key to success is building long-term relationships with local professional organizations and private companies. We would like to thank all of our dedicated team members, customers, clients and friends and we look forward to continuing to work together for ongoing success.
