Procurement, public financial management, training and health campaigns are amongst the services Crown Agents has provided in Vietnam since setting up a permanent office in 1995.
Crown Agents has from 2003-2010 under DANIDA provided procurement services to support fisheries, agriculture, water and sanitation, business, public sector administration and finance in order to reduce poverty and improve the quality of life for people in Vietnam.
Between 2008-2009 we organised a pilot project to improve computer usage and public internet accessibility in three provinces across Vietnam for the Ministry of Information and Communications.
The office's involvement in the area of Public Financial Management has been equally varied including expenditure tracking services for direct budgetary support, external debt management services, assistance to the public sector budgeting and financial planning process plus support to anti-corruption initiatives.
We have provided training in a range of areas including leadership and team-building; essential procurement skills, banking and customs modernisation including sessions on ASEAN and worldwide reforms.
Elsewhere, under a DFID-funded initiative from 2003-2008 we procured, inspected and delivered 230 million male condoms and 200,000 female condoms to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDs and between 2003-2004, under the Norwegian Embassy, we provided procurement support for the construction of schools for ethnic minorities.
