Our Work with USAID

As an implementing partner of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Crown Agents specialize in supply chain management, laboratory strengthening, small scale infrastructure renovation/construction and public financial management reform (including procurement, revenue, customs and tax reform).

Current Projects with USAID include:

Supply Chain Management System (SCMS), Worldwide, 2005-2013. Crown Agents USA (CA-USA) is the lead subcontractor in the Partnership for Supply Chain Management. This five-year initiative is designed to support the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) goal of treating two million people living with AIDS. For SCMS, CA-USA provides procurement services for non-pharmaceutical products, as well as management and technical assistance in capacity building and training. CA-USA manages and leads technical assistance efforts in three SCMS field offices (Botswana, Namibia and Rwanda).Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) Project -- Sprayers in Mozambique

Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS), Africa, 2006-2014. As a subcontractor to RTI, CA-USA supports the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) in 12 PMI countries, mostly in Africa. CA-USA works in close partnership with the Crown Agents offices in Kenya, Ghana, Mozambique, and Ethiopia to provide logistics and engineering support to the IRS project. In Ghana, CA-USA has procured and delivered pesticide, protective clothing, spray pumps and vehicles to the RTI IRS project offices. In Ethiopia, CA-USA is not only supporting procurement activities but also providing engineering expertise to design and build waste water evaporation tanks for the project and the renovation of the Adama Malaria Reference and Training Centre. In Mozambique, CA-USA is providing procurement support for project vehicles, payroll support for stipends delivery, and construction and engineering services for the erection of evaporation tanks and warehouses in the Zambezia District. The first competitive task order (for Kenya) awarded under the new IRS 2 contract will be implemented by RTI with support from CA-USA. Other task orders for Benin, Senegal, Ghana and Mali have either started or are in the process of being started.

USAID | DELIVER PROJECT, Worldwide, 2006-2011. The USAID | DELIVER PROJECT improves essential health commodity supply chains by strengthening logistics management information systems, streamlining distribution systems, identifying financial resources for procurement and supply chain operation, and enhancing forecasting and procurement planning. As a subcontractor to John Snow, Inc. (JSI), CA-USA is currently involved in improving the supply chain in three major health areas: Reproductive Health, Malaria and Avian Influenza.

Reforming the Public Procurement System, Kenya, 2007-2011. Working with the prime contractor, Association for Rural Development, Inc. (ARD), CA-USA provides Kenya's Public Procurement Oversight Authority (PPOA) with technical assistance and training in procurement auditing and record management. Through these efforts, CA-USA assists the PPOA to build their capacity and reduce public sector corruption. This is a task order under the Building Recovery and Reform through Democratic Governance (BRDG) IQC.U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Cuts Ribbon for Crown Agents Procured Equipment in Liberia

Governance and Economic Management Program (GEMAP) - Procurement of Equipment for Roberts International Airport, Liberia, 2009. As a subcontractor to SEGURA/IP3 Partners LLC, CA-USA procured and delivered new equipment for Liberia's Roberts International Airport (RIA) that will help the airport meet international standards, increase airline safety and attract additional international airlines. CA-USA prepared equipment specifications and procurement documents, issued the tender for the goods, delivery, inspection of goods, and training of RIA staff.

 

Past Projects with USAID include:

Health Center Renovation and Coordination, Ethiopia, 2006-2009. As a prime contractor, CA-USA assisted the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in providing chronic disease care and treatment services, including HIV/AIDS, at health centers throughout the Republic, through technical assistance and logistics support. Crown Agents renovated 47 health centers and provided engineering assessments on an additional 100.

Technical Assistance on External Debt Tracking, Azerbaijan, 2008-2009. The goal of the program was to provide support in planning an improved debt-tracking system through the development of a near-term institutional strengthening strategy. Crown Agents provided technical assistance to the Department for Coordination of Credits with State Guarantee, Technical Assistance and Grants in the Cabinet of Ministers.

Technical Assistance for Policy Reform (TAPR) II, Egypt, 2005-2008. As a subcontractor Bearingpoint, CA-USA provided technical assistance to reform customs administration and improve the trade environment in Egypt. CA-USA worked with counterparts in the Egyptian Customs Authority to simplify procedures, improve integrity, enhance risk management capabilities and ensure transparency in administrating the organization and its laws, regulations and procedures.CA-USA staff installing pumps for a housing compound in Baghdad

Support to Coalition Provisional Authority Reconstruction Efforts, Iraq, 2004-2005. As a subcontractor to IRG Limited, Crown Agents assisted USAID in planning for the implementation of emergency relief and near-term rehabilitation of a post-war Iraq. This involved procurement and logistics support to set up and run the USAID Mission in Iraq, and managing the construction of a housing compound in Baghdad to accommodate over 200 mission personnel.
