Crown Agents' Nairobi office was established in 1965. Since that time we have provided technical assistance and procurement services to clients and donor projects in health, social development, infrastructure, poverty alleviation, privatisation and public financial management. We also provide international banking, management advisory and consultancy services including procurement reform and assessment, logistics management and capacity building. In 2000 Crown Agents Kenya Ltd was incorporated and in 2005 we established our Africa Regional Office in Nairobi.
Our Kenya office manages large multi-country projects which are working to improve the region's health. The US-funded Indoor Residual Spraying project is helping reduce malaria, while the President's Emergency Fund for AIDS Relief-funded Supply Chain Management System is getting essential medicines to those living with HIV/AIDS. We are also members of the consortium team handling procurement and supply chain management for Kenya's state-owned Medical Supplies Agency.
In August 2008 Nairobi became one of our global procurement hubs, together with those in Nigeria, Singapore and the UK. This concentration of procurement activity enables us to win better value for money for our clients by aggregating their individual needs. In each hub we are building capacity within our teams to provide high quality, cost-effective transactional procurement services to our clients. Our Nairobi team is already recognised for its expertise in procuring insecticide-treated bednets for malaria prevention.
Beyond the health sector, we are assisting Kenya's Public Procurement Oversight Authority with its Millennium Challenge Corporation-funded reform project, and managing DFID's Africa Community Access programme that contributes to the alleviation of rural poverty in several targeted countries, of which Kenya is one.
Crown Agents has managed all six Japanese non-project grant aid allocations. We have procured all the goods grant recipients need.
