Crown Agents Japan

Our work with Japan

On behalf of the Japanese government's Official Development Assistance (ODA), Crown Agents is currently managing non-project grant aid programmes in more than 20 countries.

Since 1987 we have supported Japan's humanitarian assistance for former Soviet Union states and provided procurement and consultancy work for denuclearization programmes in the same region.

We provided project management for Japan's Assistance to Nuclear Submarine Dismantling and since 2003 we have worked in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation System (JICS) to implement emergency grants to Iraq.

As the procurement agent for Japan's Kennedy Round grant (under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1967), we are providing food aid including wheat, rice and maize for countries in urgent need - we are currently supporting Kenya.

We are assisting Japan's "Cool Earth Partnership" to combat climate change by helping developing countries to reduce emissions and boost their economies. We have acted as the procurement agent for 28 Grant Aid for Environment and Climate Change (GAEC) grants to date from the Pacific to South America.

Following the merger between Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), we have also provided procurement advisory services to Yen Loan Projects and delivered seminars to local JICA offices on loan procedures across the world from Bosnia and Brazil to Zambia and India.
