The main factors that contribute to the Caribbean's vulnerability are small economies, dependence on trade preferences and trade taxes, natural disasters, HIV/AIDS and rising drug related crime.
Crown Agents works with governments and public institutions in the region to:
- facilitate trade and enhance revenue through customs and tax modernization and the implementation of integrated computerized technology
- strengthen public utilities through the provision of goods
- develop skills through access to capacity building and training
- assist in disaster preparedness through emergency response planning and capacity building
- improve access to health services
- advance the agenda for regional co-operation through information sharing and information technology based solutions in key areas such as customs, taxation, trade and security.
